Fishtank Summer
The Fishtank will present two shows this summer, "Mask of the Broken Heart" by Stephanie Roberts and "An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein" by Shel Silverstein. Directed by Heidi Van.
"Mask of the Broken Heart" will run for it's third reprise after debuting in August of 2010 at the Fishtank. When private dick, Ray Meridian, takes on a case for Lillian Mallicoat, the daughter of a famous Kansas City tractor baron, he confronts a mysterious past involving scandal, supernaturalism, and his own lost love. Written & performed by Stephanie Roberts, Directed by Fishtank Curator Heidi Van.
Stephanie Roberts, the creator of Boom! and recent Charlotte St. Foundation Generative Artist awardee, combines genres in her new film-noir style, one-woman mask play.
This virtuosic thriller combines humor, pathos and beauty while paying tribute to classic film and contemporary Commedia dell’Arte. Roberts plays 13 characters in this original play made possible by an Inspiration Grant from the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City. photo credit: Matthew Collins
The Fishtank will present "An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein" as its official entry of the 2013 Kansas City Fringe Festival. The ten imaginative plays in this collection range widely in content, but the style is unmistakable. Directed by Heidi Van & featuring the 2013 Fishtank Acting Apprentices.

Call for Interns
This summer marks the one year anniversary of the Fishtank's Internship Program. The exciting program has offered each intern the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment. The program allows students to work side by side with Fishtank Resident Artists & staff. Interns have worked on projects ranging from researching programming ideas to learning the ins and outs of concession sales during a play in the window on a randomly cold weekend in October!
“Interns have worked in every facet of Fishtank operations, gaining knowledge and experience that will certainly benefit them throughout their careers,” says Heidi Van, Curator of the Fishtank.
The Fishtank’s Internship program started in last year in Production, Playwriting and Marketing. This year the Fishtank adds an Acting Apprenticeship that will include a performance in the Fishtank's 2013 Fringe Festival submission.
Interested applicants can send a letter of interest and resume (with head shot if applicable) to heidi@fishtanktheater.com.

Featuring:
Alisa Lynn, Audrey Doux, Joseph De Maria, Caitlin Rowland Rebecca Mardikes, Meredith Shea, Kaley Patterson, Nikky Badejo, Matt Melson, Victoria Mueller, Marianne McKenzie, Mary Kate Buncher, Jennifer Ward Lindsay Nelson, Ethan Zogg, Travis Windsor, Robert Hines
From Chicago’s acclaimed Neo-Futurists comes a hilarious, and decidedly non-partisan jaunt through the lives of the 44 Commanders-in-Chief, from George Washington to Barack Obama. Using comedy, drama, dance, and music, the actors conjure a theatrical experience that recounts, in chronological order, the entire history of our country’s highest office. A timely primer on the context and significance of the impending vote, 44 Plays for 44 Presidents entertains as it educates, but don't worry — there’s no final exam at the end. Unless you count the election, that is.
“If Jon Stewart, the Smothers Brothers, and the League of Women Voters invaded the Hall of Presidents at Disney World, the results might resemble this play.” —David C. Nichols, Los Angeles Times
