Peter Lawless composes/arranges/plays music. He graduated in 2008 with a bachelors degree in composition from the University of Missouri Kansas City. Peter's musical tastes are diverse, and his big ears are evident in his work. His interests run the gamut of jazz, rock, electronic and classical genres, but his passions lie in the chimeric intersections of these styles.Peter is an artist resident of the Fishtank Performance Studio, where he curates the Ad Hoc Music Series.

Started in January 2010, the Fishtank's Ad Hoc Music Series presents unique, innovative, and multi-dimensional musical performances from local Kansas City musicians and composers.

World music influenced chamber music meets the spoken word. This concert will present world and KC area premieres of works for oboe and percussion, violin and guitar, and poetry by Kevin Hiatt. Kevin will also perform acoustic solo works on 6, 7, 12 string and baritone guitars.

This Ad Hoc Music special event will feature musicians from Kansas City and Louisville playing new compositions composed on the spot. The invited guests will take part in a series of improvisations, seeking to unite players of diverse backgrounds and form a unique musical language.

The Premise
- I, Peter Lawless, agree to take the following actions during the month of January 2010 (Friday, January 1 – Sunday, January 31):
- I will spend two (2) hours each day in the front window of the Fishtank Performance studio (1715 Wyandotte Rd., Kansas City, MO 64108).
- During this time I will compose music.
- When a page is filled, I will tape it to the window with intention of covering the window completely by the end of the month.
- I will log my progress with daily blog posts at http://writingmusictofillawindow.blogspot.com
- At the end of the month, I will rehearse the music with performers, and a concert will be given at the Fishtank during the first week of February 2010.
